This evening Ashley Gibson and I decided we wanted to go on a bike ride. Actually, it was mostly me just wanting to get out of the house! So, we made our way down 1100 East, riding double, on my bright yellow, 1943 Schwinn Breeze. With Ashley doing a balancing act on the seat, and me doing my best to keep us from crashing into a garbage can on the left, and truck on the right. Eventually, we made it safely home. Luckily, it was only downhill. After waiting for a second in the house we decided to go out for round two, bad idea. We saddled back on the bike, and we were on our way. It was actually a great ride until we realized that all the downhills were inevitably going to be uphills. {oh man} Ashley, being the dork she is admitted she couldn't ride with us double, so it was my job to get us up the hill. {ha} Really, it was a ridiculous sight to see. Imagine. Two grown girls, one sitting on the antique seat with her legs sticking out so her feet didn't get caught in the gear, and the other peddling with all her might to just make it half way up the hill. On top of this absurd activity we both were laughing so hard we could hardly speak. Eventually, after a pretty long haul we made half way home. {It was a big hill to carry double the weight. ha.} I told Ash that it was her turn peddle since she had been free loadin' for the past two rides. She started with a practice run in the nearby apartment complex parking lot. Soon after she felt confident enough to take us the rest of the way up. After a few attempts Ash jumped off and she proceeded to walk as I rode by her side. Finally, we got to some flat ground and Ash decided to give it another go-around. We got all situated on the bike and all of the sudden she took off like a champ. Luckily, she got us home without a scratch and all was well. {ha}
Moral of the story-search for a tandem bike so we can be legit when we're ridin' double!
